Yes. Many older bridges have lead-based paint that must be removed according to strict EPA and OSHA regulations. MPC is fully certified for lead paint abatement, including proper containment, worker protection, and waste disposal. We handle the entire process from testing through final clearance.
We typically use a three-coat system: zinc-rich primer for cathodic protection, an epoxy intermediate coat for barrier protection, and a polyurethane topcoat for UV stability and color retention. The exact system is specified based on the bridge type, environment, and DOT requirements.
We install full containment systems around the bridge work area to capture all debris, blast media, and paint waste. This prevents any material from entering waterways or surrounding areas. Our containment meets all EPA, DOT, and state environmental regulations.
